Analyst, Cloud and Managed Services

Analyst, Cloud and Managed Services

451 Research, a division of the 451 Group, has been deeply involved with the cloud market for more than a decade. We produce both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the market, providing insight into the competitive strategies of the providers, customer needs and challenges and the evolving technologies and offerings in the market.

We serve a range of customers, including cloud service providers, their enterprise and SMB customers, investors in the market, and technology and platform vendors who seek to sell through cloud/managed services channels.

As the cloud market matures, the impact of emerging cloud-native technologies and hybrid/multicloud IT architectures present new opportunities and growing threats to current market participants. In this ‘beyond infrastructure’ phase of the cloud market, simple storage and compute exist alongside AI, IoT, analytics, serverless and other technologies as part of a more complex IT landscape that service providers, vendors, enterprises, SMBs, and the channel must navigate

This member of the analyst team will provide written insight and commentary into the technology and economic themes driving the evolution of the cloud market. This analysis will be delivered principally via published reports in a variety of lengths and formats. Authoring written research is a key responsibility for this role, but the analyst will also engage directly with customers in an advisory capacity, present research and insight via webinars, and share thought leadership at 451 Research conferences and industry events.

The ideal candidate will have spent at least 3-5 years working in the cloud industry or related technology sector. Appropriate experience would include roles in technology journalism, strategy, business development, product management or product marketing.

  • Excellent written communication skills plus experience, with ability to synthesize information from vendor briefings, surveys, and other sources to produce accurate and relevant reports at a scheduled cadence.
  • Undergraduate degree preferred but relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Excellent oral communication skills and ability to deliver insight in webinars, small group presentations, and on-stage at industry events.
  • Strong skills with Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
