Biography

John Stanley was a Senior Analyst covering Datacenter Technologies and Eco-Efficient IT at 451 Research. His primary focus areas were energy efficiency and sustainability in datacenters and enterprise IT. Prior to joining 451 Research, John was a researcher at the Uptime Institute, where he worked with Institute founder Ken Brill on datacenter efficiency publications and original research. He has also prepared Institute contributions to industry input for US Department of Energy datacenter efficiency initiatives.

In addition to his work with 451 Research, John was a contributing author to the Environmental Protection Agency's 2007 Report to Congress on Server and Data Center Energy Efficiency.

Before focusing on datacenters, John worked in the energy-efficiency consulting practice at Rocky Mountain Institute, helping private-sector clients improve environmental performance and profitability via energy-efficient designs and practices.

He holds an MS degree from the Energy and Resources Group at the University of California, Berkeley and a BS in Physics from North Carolina State University.
