Ned May

Former Vice President, Voice of the Enterprise

Biography

Ned May was VP of 451 Research's Voice of the Enterprise product. He drew on more than 15 years of experience analyzing IT markets and establishing new information products to serve the needs of senior leaders. Ned brought a broad understanding of emerging technology, while tempering exuberance over the promise it could bring with a healthy respect for the adoption constraints that most enterprises face. In this role, Ned led a team of analysts covering Cloud Computing, Security, Storage, Converged Infrastructure, Datacenters and the Internet of Things (IoT). Via a regular series of quarterly surveys tapping a dedicated panel of over 30,000 senior IT professionals, Ned and his team explored emerging technologies, IT spending trends, major and disruptive vendors, and workload distribution.

Previously, Ned was Managing Director at HfS Research, a small but emerging analyst firm, where he drove the firm's ascent as a thought leader in Digital Transformation. Prior to that, he spent 10 years at Outsell in a variety of roles, most recently as VP and Lead Analyst. During his time there, he led the creation of an executive-level benchmarking program, refined and honed the company's market-sizing activities, and served as an analyst and thought leader across multiple segments. Ned also spent four years at IDC, where he oversaw the Worldwide IT Services research program and led the creation of the Worldwide IT Services tracker.

Ned has been quoted in many of the world's foremost business and technology publications, including the Financial Times, The Wall Street Journal, Business Week and Time, in addition to being interviewed on Fox Business and the PBS Nightly Business Report. He is also a frequent speaker at industry events.

Ned holds an MBA from Babson College and a BA in Economics and Government from Bowdoin College.
