Scala Data Centers kicked off its operations in Chile in 2023. Its first facility in the country went live in August, with 5 MW of IT capacity leased to a hyperscaler customer. Located in Chile's second-largest city, Scala's SSCLCR01 site is in close proximity to cable landing stations offering connectivity to the US, Brazil and Colombia.
The company expanded its footprint in Santiago in 2023 with the launch of ST02, its second facility. In addition to the new facility, ODATA also announced it will expand its original site in Chile, ST01. With both developments, the provider's operations are set to reach 80 MW of IT capacity.
