Associate (Analyst in Training)

451 Research, a technology-industry analyst firm, seeks self-motivated individuals with strong writing and interpersonal skills to join its Associates program.  This program is designed to develop strong candidates into Technology Industry Analysts within 3-5 years. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who wishes to build a career in the technology sector while working in a rapidly growing entrepreneurial company. 451 Research provides a strong benefits plan and offers a stimulating, fast-paced work environment.

The single most important requirement for this position is curiosity about the industry and the ability to look beyond what is happening to understand why it is happening, and how it affects specific players in the market. Beyond that, the candidate must have excellent Web research skills as well as problem-solving skills. The applicant must be highly organized and self-directed. The ideal candidate would have some understanding about the enterprise information technology marketplace; however, this is not a requirement.

451 Research prides itself on the quality of the writing that goes into its research reports. As such, not only does the analysis need to be objective, but we expect clarity, logic, brevity and craftsmanship. Two writing tests will be part of the selection process.

The associate will be responsible for meeting deadlines for projects, most of which will involve secondary research. Projects will be assigned from across the sectors that 451 Research covers. The following is an illustrative list of responsibilities:

•    Building the competitor list for research reports
•    Researching markets we cover and proposed new markets considered for coverage
•    Researching companies with whom we are about to have briefings
•    Note-taking for vendor briefing calls
•    Generating lists of companies in particular segments
•    Completing comparison tables
•    Drafting brief company descriptions based on a defined template
•    Scheduling analyst interviews
•    Setting up analyst meetings
•    Authoring specific sections of reports and actively participating in vendor briefings, as the associate develops their skills

All of these activities will be done under the supervision of a Senior Analyst or more senior member of the research team. In addition, all Associates will be assigned Analyst Mentors and will report centrally to a local manager in the Boston office.
Associates will be required to work at 451 Research's Boston office. Telecommuting will not be an option for Associates.

Account Executive (Boston or NY Based)

451 Research, an independent IT analyst company focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation, is seeking an Account Executive. This position will involve prospecting and closing new clients as well as some retention of existing clients. The position could be based in San Francisco, New York or Boston and offers a competitive total compensation package and room for growth within the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic track record, strong communication and relationship management skills and three or more years of experience interacting with clients. Knowledge of the technology industry or syndicated research is a preferred, but not an absolute requirement. Prior experience selling to research is a plus. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Responsibilities
•Generate new sales opportunities through systematic prospecting, outbound calls and trial management.
•Question and uncover prospects’ unique business needs in order to manage the trial process, tailoring information that 451 Research provides to those needs.

Benefits Manager (NY Based)

The Benefits Manager provides high-level customer service, including in-depth benefits counseling and problem-solving support to managers, staff, and retirees on all benefits plans, including health, dental, disability, life, retirement, and flexible spending.   Knowledge of/desire to learn international benefits for our global locations (Singapore, Canada, Russia, Brazil, and UK) is a plus.

The Benefits Manager responds to a number of emails and phone calls related to the company’s benefits offerings. This position ensures transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner for assigned plans. This position also audits data, works with third party administrators as well as the internal Payroll department and the HRIS database on a regular basis to process benefits transactions. This position works on special projects as assigned.
  1. Oversee and handle the on-line transactions for all benefit plans including 401(k), medical , dental, commuter benefits, FSA and HSA.
  2. Orient new employees on benefits offerings via email and phone for non-NY office locations.  NY based personnel receive an in-person benefits orientation.
  3. Handle all employee benefits-related communications pertaining to plan changes, updated information, etc.
  4. Provide timely customer service by assisting employees with any benefits-related issues (e.g SER’s like  family status changes).  
  5. Ensure that all plans comply with ERISA guidelines. Work with benefits consultants to ensure that all plans meet ACA requirements.
  6. Prepare all benefits-related paperwork for terminating employees including COBRA notification.  Track COBRA and liaise with the Accounting Dept. to ensure that COBRA participants are remitting payments in a timely manner.
  7. Work with benefits consultants  to evaluate plans for open enrollment.  Develop communication and enrollment tools by preparing for the open enrollment process.  This may involve travel to other states (Boston, CA).
  8. Ensure employee files are kept current and compliant with related laws by updating employee benefit records in a timely and consistent manner.
  9. Take the lead on designing and implementing benefit related projects such as wellness initiatives, HRIS projects, policy creation, and new plan rollout.
  10. Handle on-line funding of the 401(k) and HSA plans on a semi-monthly basis.  
  11. Audit monthly bills paid by Accounting to ensure enrollments and terminations have been processed.
  12. Prepare benefits related reports for senior management.
  13. Process and input employee benefit election data in HRIS.
  14. Reduce liability and exposure to state and federal law (FMLA, CFRA, ADA, ERISA, COBRA, 401K, HIPAA, etc.) by following established procedures and working with the third party administrators and the VP of Human Resources to define new procedures as warranted.
  15. Work with outside auditors in the compilation of data for the annual 401(k) audit.  
  16. Support the VP of Human Resources by assisting in the development of process and efficiency improvements.
  17. Review the 5500’s for the health and welfare and 401(k) plans.  
  18. Prepare documents for leaves of absences.
  19. Complete claims forms for Workers’ Comp and Short Term Disability.  
  20. Ensure all messages in 401(k) message center are being addressed in a timely fashion.  
  21. Upload information for compliance testing for  the 401(k) plan.
  22. Administer all international benefit plans for all non-US employees.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Normally requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Knowledge of applicable international laws and regulations e.g., ERISA, DOL, IRS, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, ADA, Healthcare Reform, Section 125 and 401(k) is essential.
Experience:
  • Requires a minimum of 5 years of benefits administration (on-line benefits transaction processing is a must) and benefits customer service experience, preferably in an organization with locations in multiple sites in multiple states
  • Experience with report-writing software and HRIS
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office, with an advanced skill level in Excel

Marketo Responsibilities

We are looking for an Office Administrator/Administrative Assistant to manage the day to day operations of our Boston office.  You will perform all administration duties for an office of 60+ employees, to ensure the smooth operation of a productive work environment. Product Marketing Manager (Boston Based)

This position and related projects have strong executive sponsorship, will report to the Salesforce Administrator and will work directly with the Vice President of Sales Operations. This tech savvy, process-oriented and customer-focused individual will be the dedicated administrative resource for the 451 Research Sales division to support daily activities while implementing new features within the salesforce system. This role encompasses hands on technical implementation and system evangelizing. This person will also be responsible for executing sales specific system training, maintenance, support or improvement to the CRM platform. The successful candidate will embrace the challenge of solving critical business problems and play a key role for evolving and defining new processes within the 451 Research Sales division.

Responsibilities:
•    Review and understand general sales drivers and context for development projects.
•    Assist in defining required features and mapping salesforce features to sales processes.
•    Manage the sales feature request/support backlog and work directly with the Vice President of Sales Operations to prioritize and execute on it.
•    Evangelize and drive user adoption across the sales organization.
•    Implement enhancements and rollout new features to the salesforce platform.
•    Design and execute solutions to common challenges such as complex reporting, data mapping, object modeling, page layout design, validation and workflow rules within the context of the salesforce platform.
•    Create training materials, user documentation, and maintain ongoing documentation processes as sales needs evolve or features are added.
•    Change set management between development sandboxes and production salesforce environment.
•    Work directly with the Vice President of Sales Operations, key project stakeholders and Software Engineers to plan and implement technical solutions (e.g. APEX, triggers, object relations).

Requirements / Qualifications
•    2+ years as a salesforce administrator
•    Proven experience building components of a salesforce system in the effort to support core business processes
•    Strong understanding of salesforce.com best practice and functionality

As a member of the Software Engineering team you will be directly involved in a variety of projects that support our customer-facing web properties, comprehensive research data collection, management and mining, internal stakeholder applications and external integration services with third party providers. You will have the opportunity to interface directly with key project and company stakeholders to help identify the project requirements, technologies leveraged and contributing resources. Expect that you will be routinely challenged to learn new methods or technologies while providing creative solutions within a diverse project landscape. Candidate must be based in or willing to relocate to Boston.
