Account Executive - IT (Boston or NYC Based)

Title:                Account Executive - IT Services
Report to:        Vice President of Sales, Core Accounts

Overview:

451 Research, an independent IT analyst company focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation, is seeking an Account Executive. This position will involve prospecting and closing new clients as well as some retention of existing clients.
The position could be based in San Francisco, New York or Boston and offers a competitive total compensation package and room for growth within the organization.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic track record, strong communication and relationship management skills and three or more years of experience interacting with clients. Knowledge of the technology industry or syndicated research is a preferred, but not an absolute requirement.
Prior experience selling to research is a plus. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Responsibilities
•    Generate new sales opportunities through systematic prospecting, outbound calls and trial management.
•    Question and uncover prospects’ unique business needs in order to manage the trial process, tailoring information that 451 Research provides to those needs.
•    Clearly and effectively work with the Managing Director to demonstrate451’s value proposition through in-person and over the phone presentations.

Client Service Representative (NYC Based)

The Client Service Representative works in collaboration with the Sales team to ensure all needs of our clients are met. The Client Service Representative is responsible for proactively driving, monitoring, and increasing client usage and satisfaction with contracted deliverables. This includes proactive and reactive service by way of client requests and inquiries, coordination of the on-boarding process, web ID set-up, event participation, aligning client initiatives with relevant research, coordination of webinar delivery by analysts, etc.

Core job functions include:

  •     Field inbound client requests and research inquiries

Data Research Analyst (Bethesda, MD)

We are seeking a hardworking, goal-oriented, high energy individual to fill our Data Research Analyst position. The selected candidate will be responsible for data analysis and visualization, tabulation, research, and supporting report publication.   
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic track record and at least three years’ experience in market research and statistical methods. Knowledge of the technology industry is preferred, but not an absolute requirement.

Datacenter Technologies Analyst (US Based)

This role will suit an energetic professional with excellent communication skills and a strong interest in the business and technical evolution of the IT industry.  Producing written research is a core function of the job. There are opportunities to work on new research and consulting projects, as well as to review the technologies and strategies of leading companies across the globe.

Although allowances will be made for a strong candidate, the successful candidate should ideally have:
•    At least 5 years working experience in the area of datacenters and/or IT or a closely related field such as research analyst, IT journalism etc.
•    Proven and testable ability to write and speak in clear English.
•    Some understanding of the infrastructure and engineering of datacenters (cooling, power distribution, availability etc), and/or a knowledge of IT infrastructure (servers, virtual machines,  networks, management software etc). Hands on experience is not a strict requirement.
•    Ability to conceive, plan and write reports for publication.
•    Willingness to travel regularly, including occasionally outside the US.
•    Presentation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work with senior management in client companies.


The successful candidate should ideally be based within an hour or two of one of 451 Research’s offices in San Francisco, New York or Boston, but other locations will be considered for the right candidate.

HR Generalist (Boston Based)

Title:                Human Resources Generalist

Position Summary:
HR Generalist works closely with the VP of HR in supporting our Boston office by implementing human resources programs and solving performance problems. This position carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: training and development, employee relations, recruiting and onboarding, coaching managers, handling workers compensation claims, performance management, policy implementation, affirmative action and employment law compliance.


Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Administers various human resource plans and procedures for all company personnel.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Consults with line management, provides HR policy guidance and interpretation and provides HR guidance when appropriate.
  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

Education/Work Experience:
  • 4+ years of experience as HR Generalist, Training and Development focused highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of multiple HR disciplines, including recruiting, employee relations, compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, performance management, and respective federal and state employment law.
  • A bachelor’s degree and three to five years’ human resource experience, or a master’s degree in human resource management and two years’ experience in the HR field, or seven years of experience in the HR field, or any similar combination of education and experience.
  • PHR Certification is preferred but not required.

451 Research delivers value to its customers (and to a certain extent, the industry at large) from multiple perspectives and via multiple channels. Types of analysis include (but are not limited to) technology and technology innovation;  competitive analysis of individual suppliers and the eco-systems they form;  exploration of macro market trends; insight both of and for the “end user”; market sizing and forecasting;  M&A analysis; financial analysis;  interpretation of compliance and regulatory factors; etc.
    
We are looking for a star performer to become a leading member of our analyst team. This senior member of the analyst team will provide insight and commentary into the technology and economic themes that are driving the evolution of the sector. This analysis will be delivered principally via published reports in a variety of lengths and formats. Authoring research is a key responsibility for this role. Additionally, the senior analyst will engage directly with our customers in an advisory capacity; and share their thought leadership at 451 and industry conferences.
In the development, DevOps & IT ops channel, analysts cover a broad range of technologies and organizations, spanning areas including software development, private cloud, and production support.

We are looking for a new senior analyst to own our monitoring and APM research, with the potential of adding systems management and configuration management depending on interests and capabilities. Analysts in our channel cover traditional systems-management vendors as well as offerings from infrastructure-focused startups and other areas of disruptive technology.

We are a distributed team and are happy to hire remote for this position, or you are also welcome to work from one of our US or European offices.

Tasks:
 
•    Write research reports in both short and long form on a regular basis.
•    Create and manage coverage maps and schedules detailing which vendors will be covered and when specific report types will be generated.
•    Schedule and receive briefings with vendors identified in coverage maps in a timely fashion.
•    Develop and pursue a significant and detailed understanding of the markets and technologies in your coverage area.

Senior Vice President, IT (Boston Based)

The Senior Vice President, IT will provide overall leadership of the technology and information systems functions and infrastructure within the 451 Group. Working effectively as a contributing member of the management team  he/she will provide dynamic leadership and strategic direction, ensuring creative, effective and cost-efficient application of policies, philosophies, and organization-wide systems.

This individual will manage all functions of the information technology department (including third party service providers) and is responsible for the management of projects, supervision of departmental staff members and recommendations to Management regarding IT policy, procedures, projects and priorities.  Specifically, this individual directs the planning and implementation of IT systems, software and web applications to support the Company’s operations and foster innovations that create competitive advantage, enhance the customer experience, improve service quality, support business development and improve our cost effectiveness of operations.

Role and Responsibility:

•    Provide organizational direction with regards to all internal technologies  (production, decision support, productivity)
