Account Executive

 451 Research, an independent IT analyst company focused on the business of enterprise IT innovation, is seeking an Account Executive. This position will involve prospecting and closing new clients as well as some retention of existing clients. The position could be based in San Francisco, New York or Boston and offers a competitive total compensation package and room for growth within the organization.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with an excellent academic track record, strong communication and relationship management skills and three or more years of experience interacting with clients. Knowledge of the technology industry or syndicated research is a preferred, but not an absolute requirement. Prior experience selling to research is a plus. US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required.

Responsibilities

Digital Marketing Manager - Events (NY Based)

The Digital Marketing Manager - Events will be responsible for driving digital marketing strategies across The 451 Group’s global event portfolio.

MAIN DUTIES:

The Event Attendee Specialist is responsible for executing audience acquisition strategies to secure high-level audiences for events across The 451 Group's portfolio, including hosted executive summits and paid-for marquee events. The selected candidate will help lead our research and data team in the areas of research, data collection, tabulation and report writing.

ChangeWave publishes syndicated research reports based on a weekly series of proprietary large-sample surveys of its ChangeWave survey network – a group of more than 25,000 business and technology professionals – along with early-adopter consumers. The intelligence provided by ChangeWave provides a real-time view of changes in both corporate demand and consumer spending, as well as company, technology and macro-economic trends.

451 Research, a division of the 451 Group, has been deeply involved with the colocation and multi-tenant datacenter markets for over a decade. We produce both qualitative and quantitative analysis of the market, providing insight into the competitive strategies of the providers; the considerations and needs of their customers; and detailed market data about providers and geographies.

We serve a wide variety of customers – colocation providers themselves; their customers on the enterprise, connection and service provider side; the investment community; real estate and construction; other service providers to the multi-tenant datacenter, and those who would seek to join the market, etc.

As the market matures, both on the supply and demand side, it becomes ever more sophisticated, and new factors come to the fore. In addition to the increased competition that stems from the acceptance of the 3rd party model, a host of new issues such as energy management; the rise of modular; the cloud in all its forms; regulation and compliance, etc. begin to shape of the market in new ways.

We are looking for a star performer to become a leading member of our analyst team. This senior member of the analyst team will provide insight and commentary into the technology and economic themes that are driving the evolution of the sector. This analysis will be delivered principally via published reports in a variety of lengths and formats. Authoring research is a key responsibility for this role. Additionally, the senior analyst will engage directly with our customers in an advisory capacity; and share their thought leadership at 451 and industry conferences.

The ideal candidate will have spent at least 5-7 years working within the colocation industry or related sector. Appropriate experience would include roles in strategy, business development, or marketing at a datacenter capacity provider, though relevant experience as a consultant or with other providers would also be considered.

Qualifications

Strategic Planning Associate (NY or PA Based)

The Strategic Planning Associate is responsible for helping develop the strategic vision for The 451 Group and the Group's subsidiaries, including 451 Research and Uptime Institute. The position will report to the Executive Vice President and work closely with senior team members of the Group, including the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officers of the Group’s subsidiaries. This position is a pre-MBA position and the position will work closely with team members with MBAs from HBS and Wharton.

Key Responsibilities Include:
•Conducting market opportunity analyses and identifying and evaluating strategic priorities for the Group
•Evaluating go-to-market strategies for the Group’s products and services in different geographies
•Conducting marketplace due diligence on acquisition candidates and advising senior team members throughout a transaction
•Creating and maintaining financial models
•Tracking competitors of the Group’s subsidiaries
•Presenting recommendations to senior management

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s degree from a leading college
•Full knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
•2-3 years of experience in management consulting, strategic planning, or finance is a plus
•Understanding of the technology industry is a plus
