Associate (Analyst in Training)

451 Research, a technology-industry analyst firm, seeks self-motivated individuals with strong writing and interpersonal skills to join its Associates program.  This program is designed to develop strong candidates into Technology Industry Analysts within 3-5 years. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who wishes to build a career in the technology sector while working in a rapidly growing entrepreneurial company. 451 Research provides a strong benefits plan and offers a stimulating, fast-paced work environment.

The single most important requirement for this position is curiosity about the industry and the ability to look beyond what is happening to understand why it is happening, and how it affects specific players in the market. Beyond that, the candidate must have excellent Web research skills as well as problem-solving skills. The applicant must be highly organized and self-directed. The ideal candidate would have some understanding about the enterprise information technology marketplace; however, this is not a requirement.

451 Research prides itself on the quality of the writing that goes into its research reports. As such, not only does the analysis need to be objective, but we expect clarity, logic, brevity and craftsmanship. Two writing tests will be part of the selection process.

The associate will be responsible for meeting deadlines for projects, most of which will involve secondary research. Projects will be assigned from across the sectors that 451 Research covers. The following is an illustrative list of responsibilities:

•    Building the competitor list for research reports
•    Researching markets we cover and proposed new markets considered for coverage
•    Researching companies with whom we are about to have briefings
•    Note-taking for vendor briefing calls
•    Generating lists of companies in particular segments
•    Completing comparison tables
•    Drafting brief company descriptions based on a defined template
•    Scheduling analyst interviews

All of these activities will be done under the supervision of a Senior Analyst or more senior member of the research team. In addition, all Associates will be assigned Analyst Mentors and will report centrally to a local manager in the Boston office.
Associates will be required to work at 451 Research's Boston office. Telecommuting will not be an option for Associates.

Overview:

Client Service Representative (Boston Based)

IT Support Specialist (Seattle Based)

Position Summary:
The IT Support Specialist will provide a variety of technology services for our company staff. The qualified candidate needs to have excellent problem solving ability, as well as communication, organization and business skills to provide technology solutions for company staff and fellow team members.

Responsibilities:

    To provide a variety of technology services for our company staff.
    IT Support Specialist will be a first responder for maintaining and troubleshooting the following: laptops, mobile devices, printers, copiers, VOIP phones, Audio/Visual equipment.
    Monitor helpdesk tickets daily and coordinate with helpdesk technician in the NY office.
    Maintain/Troubleshoot server room physical assets.
    Moves/Adds/Changes of physical and I.T. equipment and phones.
    Create and maintain documentation related to assets, network maps, and other documents.
    Utilize existing systems for trouble ticket and task management.
    Off-hours support as directed.
    Collaborate with helpdesk support in London to ensure coverage for all offices
    Maintain close contact and open communication with clients until an issue has been resolved; maintain detailed work logs and technical documentation in the ticketing system.
    Work with internal and external clients via phone and email to resolve problems.
    Escalate extreme problems to senior IT staff, or third party vendors, as needed.

Technical Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a solid technical foundation or show the capabilities to learn very quickly, including:

    Experience supporting the latest and previous Windows and MAC operating systems.
    Ability to plan and manage the installation, upgrade, repair, movement, and replacement of desktops, laptops, and peripherals
    Ability to plan and manage the installation, configuration, and upgrade of most office software applications and suites

Marketing Automation Specialist (Boston Based)

451 Research is looking for a hands-on, business-minded individual with a strong technical grounding in the capabilities and functionality of the Marketo and Salesforce platforms. This role will serve on the CRM Administration team as 451's Marketo expert and will also help meet the day-to-day administration and maintenance needs of Salesforce.

Marketo Responsibilities
•    Own the Marketo environment and serve as the primary Marketo Administrator
•    Act as main point-of-contact for all internal Marketo inquiries.
•    Control the development, implementation and the ongoing management of Marketo processes
•    Implement modifications to Marketo set-up as changes to business requirements occur
•    Work with various business teams to understand processes and optimize system configuration

Office Administrator (Boston Based)

We are looking for an Office Administrator/Administrative Assistant to manage the day to day operations of our Boston office.  You will perform all administration duties for an office of 60+ employees, to ensure the smooth operation of a productive work environment. During the first year, you will also be heavily involved in assisting with the consolidation and relocation of three of our office spaces into one new space.

Principal Consultant

DESCRIPTION
451 Research Advisory delivers bespoke market and industry research and prescriptive guidance to information technology vendors, service providers, investors, and enterprises.  

The Principal Consultant is primarily responsible for delivering and managing 451 Research Advisory projects, and supporting business development and sales.

Working with other consultants and 451 Research Analysts, the Principal Consultant analyzes client requirements, assembles existing qualitative research and data, designs and conducts new primary research, compiles and analyzes results, and develops and presents customized deliverables including reports and presentations to our clients.  

The Principal Consultant also manages 451 Research Advisory projects.  As project manager, the Principal Consultant is responsible for developing and maintaining project schedule, resource allocation, and internal and external project communication.

The Principal Consultant also supports the business development and sales of 451 Research Advisory projects.

Research Analyst/Product Manager (San Francisco Based)

451 Research, an analyst firm focused on emerging and disruptive technologies, seeks a detail-oriented professional to assist in the development and management of the company’s market data products.  This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual who wishes to learn about a broad range of emerging technology companies while managing a set of innovative data products within a rapidly growing entrepreneurial company.

Senior General Ledger Accountant (NY Based)

The 451 Group, an independent technology industry analyst and datacenter certification provider, is seeking a Senior General Ledger Accountant to join our accounting department in our New York Office. We are seeking a well-organized, detail oriented and hardworking individual to fill this position. The selected candidate will be responsible for full cycle accounting for both U.S. and International entities. The position will include review for timely and accurate data recorded in the general ledger, reconciliations of appropriate GL accounts, monitoring systems to insure compliance with GAAP, and assisting with ad-hoc accounting activities.

Responsibilities:
•Prepare and review monthly journal entries to the General Ledger.
•Maintain, reconcile and confirm intercompany accounts for all U.S. and International entities.
•Maintain accrual schedules and monthly transactions.
•Coordinate transactions with foreign operations, issue necessary support documents for US expenses/income, and oversee/perform currency translation.
•Prepare month-end Balance Sheet Schedules for the reconciliation book with required supporting documentation.
•Assist management in investigating, documenting and improving internal controls and in maintaining the Company’s manual of accounting policies and procedures.
•Provide Month/Quarter/Year End close assistance.
•Prepare year end audit work papers and assistance with year-end audit.
•Perform other duties or ad hoc projects as needed.

Qualifications:
•Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from four-year college in Accounting, Finance or other related field of study required.
•Minimum 3-4 years of experience in functions directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
•Experience with Intacct accounting software a plus.
•Thorough knowledge of GAAP accounting practices and procedures.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Software Engineer/PHP Developer (Boston Based)

As a member of the Software Engineering team you will be directly involved in a variety of projects that support our customer-facing web properties, comprehensive research data collection, management and mining, internal stakeholder applications and external integration services with third party providers.
