  AI continues to impact the data center industry and energy utilities, as data center providers and customers seek to lock in access to large amounts of power to support AI adoption. However, even though adoption of generative AI and other types of AI is strong, it is difficult to know how much infrastructure will be required and where. To meet the power requirements of AI infrastructure, utilities are planning to build additional gas-fired power plants or keep coal-fired power plants online, raising sustainability concerns as well. AI requirements will continue to affect the industry, and data center demand will remain strong.
