2013 Cloud Computing Outlook – Cloud Computing Wave 412 Dec, 2012 ~
The internal private cloud is the starting point for most enterprises in their cloud journey. IT departments, in response to pressure from business units, continue to use technologies and architectures internally that mimic those of leading cloud service providers. Instead of the cloud being an end unto itself, it is rapidly becoming an element of a multipronged approach to service delivery within an enterprise’s broader infrastructure. In terms of the external cloud, Amazon remains the clear leader in the IaaS space. When interviewees were asked to identify their existing cloud service provider, 19% chose Amazon, while 8% chose Verizon and 5% Rackspace.
This report describes how 2013 looks in terms of their IT professionals’ readiness for cloud computing, datacenter utilization and cloud-enabling technology roadmap. The report also details IT pros’ selection criteria for choosing a cloud provider.
