VoCUL: Positive Holiday Shopping Outlook Led by Surge for Electronics (Leading Indicator)

Macroeconomic Outlook - Consumer Spending: Our latest survey shows overall consumer spending growth is holding firm at the best November spending level in more than a decade, boosted by a solid outlook for the holiday shopping season. We're seeing increases for a few spending categories led by a seasonal jump for consumer electronics, with Amazon the big winner and reaching an all-time high. Spending intentions for most major retailers are up, led by Amazon, Costco and Walmart. The results from the November 2-20 survey of 1,866 primarily North American consumers from 451 Research's Leading Indicator panel also show consumer expectations for the overall direction of the US economy are up for the second consecutive survey, although confidence in the stock market has weakened.
