Biography

John Fletcher has spent more than two decades researching and forecasting the metrics and finances of the telecommunication, media and technology industry. He has covered subjects such as cable networks, box office, mobile networks, towers, broadband, mobile entertainment, and consumer and business-to-business surveys.​ He currently leads the Americas research teams for broadband, multichannel video and mobile/towers at S&P Global Market Intelligence with a focus on the changing video subscription space and how the US can close the broadband digital divide. ​ John has written numerous groundbreaking reports on mobile entertainment on a variety of topics including games, music subscriptions, video, location-based services and digital sports. In 2017 John expanded US mobile and tower/small cell research into global coverage, building and training a team that now tracks billions of mobile subscriptions and millions of towers across the globe.​ From 2014 through 2021, John also managed the global survey team for S&P Global Market Intelligence’s Kagan media research group and spearheaded the fintech research expansion in 2014.​ John holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Saint Mary’s College of California. He is a frequent speaker and has been quoted in numerous publications including USA Today and The Economist.
